Sand dunes are natural barriers against coastal erosion. They are also a rich habitat for plants and wildlife.
Human activities, stronger storms and rising sea level resulting from climate change, are a major threat to these systems.
This is Shifting Sands, a journey through the sand dunes of Corcha Dhuibhne, focusing in particular on the Maharees, and the efforts to protect its sand dunes and marram grass.
